ENCO Gas, Ltd. (ENCO) began operations in 1991 and purchased over 150 billion cubic feet of natural gas reserves for the purpose of providing low cost fuel to Sumas Cogeneration. Total initial investment in ENCO was approximately $35 million. ENCO was headquartered in Calgary, Alberta, with principal operations in northeast British Columbia and northwest Alberta. At its peak, ENCO produced over 30 million cubic feet of natural gas per day. After more than sixteen years of operation, ENCO was sold in 2007.
The project was owned and managed by the NESCOgroup and was financed by the NESCOgroup, Prudential Insurance and Credit Suisse.
